On account of the pressure of modernisation, urbanisation and due to the vast changes in society the relations of many wives and husbands have come under strain. In these families the children are the worst sufferers. This centre provides a service with the aim of reconciling the unhappy couples who come for help.
When a couple decides to attend the Counseling Centre to sovle their family problem, sessions are arranged for either party individually and two trained family counselors appointed at the centre hold counseling sessions and try to bring about reconciliation between the parties. If and agreement is reached a statement is signed and the couple is re-united. If not, a legal advisor of the centre gives legal advise to the client, and the case proceeds to the family court. In all cases of reconciliation follow up is made by the counsellor by counducting home visit sat regular intervals.Since July 2009, in all 2418 cases have been registered so far out of which 2410 cases have been settled, or legal assistance given in same cases. At present 8 cases are pending. The success rate of the Centre in statistical terms is 80%.
In persuance of the new education policy, (NEP), started a scheme of marking economic and other social incompartibilities had for leave regular schooling, and thereafter arranging for their studies in a two year Condensed Course. With meager resouces but with talented and hard-working teachers the students emerged out successful. Each girl is given the stipend of Rs.60/per month. Five courses, two of primary level. Two of middle level and one of secondary level of a batch of 25 girls each have been successfully conducted benenfitting 125 girls in all.
SHNVS started a computer centre at Shri Karmi Nagar Vikas Samiti. It has three computers. Two courses were run for girls from low income families, who had already graduated. This was recognised by Kota Open University. This activity enhances the employment prospects of the girls and brightens their future. The beneficiary gets 60/- per month as stipend. Presently, destitute children are given training. Recently, the Board of management, Kota Open University has taken a decision to start a Computer Study Centre of KOU for exclusive training of women at Shri Karni Nagar Vikas Samiti. A letter of ‘Intent’ has been received by the Institution.
Abandoned lunatic women found on road side, railway platforms and other places are referred to SKNVS by the Police and general Public and they are treated by psychiatrist. Some respond to medicines while others are sent to Government asylum at jaipur on obtaining permission from the administration. Out of them such women have been rehabilitated in their families on getting their address after their recovery from illness.
The physically handicapped children, Specially, Polio victims, are not only helped in physical rehabiliation but are given vocational training or provided self employment and are rehabilitated economically to earn their own livelihood with self respect. SKNVS is providing all help through Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti. The liason between the two agencies is proving a boon to the handicapped children.
SKNVS runs a short stay Home for Women and Girls since 1988 with financial support from Ministry of Human Resource Development, under which many categories of distressed women and girls are sheltered, more specially the unwed mother girls. It has given a new lease of life to 96 carrying mothers (mostly girls), who fell prey to rape or after intimate relations with male partners became mothers. The SKNVS has not only been able to bring back the hope of life to such mothers by arranging delviery secretly but also providing foster care to the children delivered under the care of affectionate and dedicated workers and doctors.During their stay a gynaecologist, regularly checks them up. They are provided with proper, nutrition, medicine, and above all utmost care and affection is given to them. They and their parents are suitably counselled and tried to be rehabilitated in their family after delivery. If their social reasons do not accept them SKNVS accepts the challenge and arranges for their education, marriage and finaly helps them in settling down in life.
Organisez workshops of functionaries of child welfare institutions of Rajasthan. It has also organised legal literacy Camps in rural areas like morak and Gandi Fali in Kota Distt. tember 1993. Many more seminars are on the agenda in ensuing year. These help the institution in getting fresh ideas and suggestions.
A corollary to holiday Home was another experiment of Balotsava. This experiment was tried in 1989 and it has now become a regular feature of Shri Karni Nagar Samiti. In this activity also, children from Shri Karni Vikas Samiti and children from the streets & slums areas are mixed up in a common stream and are given training in painting. Drama, dance, music, etc, during summer vacation. After they attain a certain level of efficiency, they are given a chance in major cultural activities. About 100 children participate in this activity every year.
Many talented children cannot continue their studies because of their adverse economic conditions. At this stage SKNVS comes forward to help them. Thus one student could pass Agriculture egg. Another instrumentation engineering, and recently one girl passed the C.A. Foundation course. This is just the beginning and the SKNVS hopes to give assistance to more needy and talented boys and girls.
Though the Doctors visit the SKNVS on regular basis and check up the health of the girls and boys of all ages and treat those who are sick yet the institution was wanting to establish a dispensary which will not only treat the SKNVS residents but will also treat the surrounding neighbours who are poor and needy, The efforts of the institution were crowned with success on 1st December,99. When a Homoepathic Dispensary of the Government was started inside the campus of the SKNVS.Now medical facilities will be available to all persons irrespective of any distinction what so ever. The benefits of this dispensary will definitely reach the poor and the down trodden.
A new building “shraddha” has been constructed in a laud Area 0.75 heetares building comprises of 2480 sqm. Plinth Area. this building can house 120 persons in a twinsharing, all rooms are aircooled round the clock warm water facility attached toilet-and a small pantry. This premise has a temple, sprawing lawns & greenry with Dining Hall, Recreation room, modern kitchen & pantry, with filtered & cold water arrangements, solar heating for cooking and for warming is being utilised.
Caring for the upkeep of residents of “shraddha” has been of the prime importance, hence a well equipped physiotherapy centre and intensive can unit (6 beded) has been established. This physiotherapy centre has been thrown open for the general public at very reasonable fee. Serices of experienced physiotherapist has been engaged for this center.
A shidy centre “Diva sangam” organises weakly discourse, debate, music, poetry recitation & story telling programmers since last 6 years. These programmes are being organized as “Ashraya” premises (26, Jhalawar Road Kota.)
For the benefit of inmates of old age and general public, a centre for alternative Therapies- magnetic therapy & acupressure is being run at Ashraya Bhavan.
